We heart Living

‘It would be great if you wanted to come on board’ – the best words I had heard in all a long time, arrived into my inbox last Tuesday evening.

I had just been asked to get involved with a brand new website launch by the editor of Women’s Fitness! We Heart Living is a blog completely dedicated to all things fitness and lifestyle related, providing women with witty and interesting content on health and fitness, scrumptious food recipes and nutrition tips, lifestyle advice and fashion’s best bits.

Still only a baby, I am confident that it has great potential and I am so lucky to be involved...so watch this space to find out more and do check out weheartliving.com...

Anyway, last Thursday was the launch party held over in the trendy studio of Shorditch. Candles lighting up the entrance, I was greeted with a glass of prosecco and tiny salmon canapés. In typical Jen style, my first stop was the ladies as I was desperate as I always am. My next missing was to find the lady in charge aka my new bezzie and editor in chief...

I manoeuvred my way through the crowds (yes crowds! The place was packed – a very good sign) to see her standing in the centre of a handful of people looking gorgeous in a little white dress and heels. Stubbling over my words to say thank you and how amazing she looked, we (thankfully) eased into a flowing conversation and she began to introduce me to relevant people in the industry.

Several top ups of prosecco later and a venture round the venue, I had discovered the dounuts stand handing out balls of fluffy goodness and tiny shots filled with more yummyness. The original team of three had done themselves proud with a place packed to brim and a huge interest in the new site. One last introduction to the waiters had been wobbling at my knees as the tall handsome men (already taken I am afraid) shook my hand and offered me more pimms...

With other places to be and for the want of not drinking my weight in bubbles – I decided it was time to head off short before the end but not without my goody bag which contained some fabulous presents....thank you I heart Living....I can’t wait to see where this goes.

Bookwineclub

Bottle of Prosecco in one hand and Ernest Hemingway's Sun Also Rises clutched in the other, I hurled my way down the streets of East London to my fellow bookclubbers abode. Trying not to feel to guilty that I didn't actually read the book but just the cliffnotes (it has been a busy month and I was enjoying my other chick flick way too much too swap - don't frown), I let myself through the door to join the gaggle of girls.

This was my third time at bookwine club as we refer to it - most likely because of the copious amount of bottles that end up being successfully emptied, and I love it! Ok, so I may not be the biggest fan of two of the three books we decide to read but it does help with my literature and intelligence and us London gals always have to take this into consideration...

I was introduced to the group by my amazing American colleague after a chat in the kitchen (where all good conversations happen) pre Christmas. The group is so diverse and I think I am pretty much the only English as the others are mainly from different places in the US (god knows why they relocate to this country - I don't think I will ever understand it! and Germany.

Basically once a month, one of the group hosts the evening at their house putting on a gorgeous spread relevant to the theme of the booking (sometimes this can be pretty difficult) and everyone brings a bottle or nibbles. To begin with, as everyone slowly joins we stand / sit around getting through glasses of wine or prosseco in my case, as I am not so much a vino fan then indulge in the gorgeous food before finally coming round to the discussion of the book - which actually is fairly hard core and deep!

This month we had Mr Hemingway's novel - which I am sad to say, I never really got round to reading. Bad Jen! Basically I was so caught up in my other chic flick - About A Girl by my new all time favourite author Lindsay Kelk, who wrote the 'I Heart series' with Angela and Jenny Lopez her main characters, who I swear, would be my best friends if they were real, as their lives resemble mine in so many ways. It was actually her and these books that really pushed me to get this writing thing off the ground. So if your a book hermit as well - I really suggest reading these! Anyway, getting back on the subject - I made it through the first 2 chapters before deciding I better download the cliff notes to understand the book and to be fair I will actually read it because it seemed quite interesting! With the main part of the book being set in Spain, our lovely host put on a bit of a fiesta with a tapas spread...Barcelona eat your heart out! Conversations about engagement, jet setting to Paris, living in London and me wanting a US visa took up most of the evening before we sat down for yummy food and Sun Also Rises discussions...

I am suppose to be hosting the next one but I am not sure I can any more - hmmm.

Any way watch this space for the next one...

Stepping Stones

This is it! That was my thought on my penultimate track this evening in my sweat dripping, legs burning 60 minute RPM class. Yes...sorry guys - I am one of them, a fitness freak if you like BUT with the exception of trying to break away! So I have been doing a lot of thinking over the past week - what with landing my first and then SECOND freelance job to actually do something I love...which is to write and give advice...talk to an audience who want to listen..this is where my passion and future lies...Fine, I will admit I am like everyone...I still have those fantasies of being THAT famous actress or THAT gorgeous model but come on lets face reality is it really going to happen?!

So this is my first post.....I don't have an 'about me' page yet because I don't know who that person is and I am on a road of discovery, a journey which I get to take you with me if you want and you never know - maybe you will do some self discovery too if you so wish.  I have a lot to learn, a lot to get through and god yes a lot to understand but like any twenty something who is new to living and working in the Capital that is called London  - we have to go with it and accept the lows with the highs!

This blog is going to be about things I love and the life I experience...not because I am exceptionally different from you or because I am 'special' but because I want to share reality with you alongside the ridiculous dreams and ambitions of an individual who has been through a load of s**t (definitely not saying I am the only one) and on a conquest to find that place... You know what I mean- when you have that someONE in your life, you have that job you love, you are financially stable (if that is possible) but mainly you are content with your life and the people in it....

I hope you enjoy what is to come and I promise to try and keep you entertained..

So here goes (raise my imaginary glass) to a journey of self discovery!
